Zoom-Online-Lecture von Gony Paz (Tel Aviv) zur ihrer Arbeit »Sweetie you ain ́t guilty!« im Gespräch mit Beate Absalon (Berlin)

Zwischen Verletzlichkeit und Wut, Humor und Schmerz sucht sich die israelische Künstlerin Goni Paz in ihrer Inszenierung „Sweetie you ain´t guilty“ ihren eigenen Weg, indem sie die persönliche Erfahrung eines sexuellen Übergriffs uns dessen Folgen reflektiert. Dieses Solo-Stück ist eine Mutprobe, in der die Protagonistin begleitet wird von mythischen Figuren aus der Antike und der Popkultur, bewaffnet mit Tablet, Samuraischwert, einer goldenen Tischdecke und einem Dutzend pinker Briefe, in einer gewagten, persönlichen Auseinandersetzung über sexuelle Gewalt: Ein Werk, das Raum für Virtuosität und Magie gibt, aber auch Schwächen, Menschlichkeit und Einfachheit offenbart. In dieser Online-Lecture gibt Paz Einblicke in ihre Arbeit und Arbeitsweise.

Online-Lecture by Gony Paz (Tel Aviv) about her work »Sweetie you ain ́t guilty!« under discussion with Beate Absalon (Berlin)

The performance „Sweetie you ain´t guilty“ is a reflection on the personal experience of sexual assault and its consequences, in order to create a stage work that does not reconstruct or perpetuate the assault, but seeks to enable a more subversive observation of the subject and create a space for the performer and the audience in which transformation can take place.

The play is a ceremony – a test of courage in which all the means, even the fictitious ones, are kosher. From sea girls to Kurt Cobain and Uma Thurman – all the superpowers are recruited to go to a duel with the assailant and to settle once and for all (or maybe every time again and again?) The question of the victim.

It is a work that gives room for virtuosity and magic but also reveals weaknesses, humanity and simplicity. In this online-lecture Paz performs & talks about her approach of work.
